The "Coat, Mackinaw, OD", also called the "Jeep Coat" was first issued in 1938 (called the "first pattern"), intended for cold weather use by troops who did not engage in much movements, such as drivers. The Mackinaw had a water resistant cotton duck outer shell with a wool blanket lining. The distinguishing feature of the first pattern mackinaw was that the 30 oz. blanket lining extended visibly over the shawl collar. The 1938 1st Pattern M-38 Mackinac coat we made this time, the collar has been corrected, and very fits. New custom-made heavyweight 33 oz. Melton wool, no matter the textile method, and color are reproduced with the original version, very thick, windproof and warm effects are very good.
